# L-16 — Curology vs Agency: compare the current prescription, price and treatment goal

Curology's acne offer and Agency's renamed aging range are different starting points. A useful comparison records the proposed formula and actual bill before deciding whether either service fits.

The common word personalized makes two services sound more alike than their treatment plans may be. Start with the concern: active breakouts, persistent pigment, visible aging or a combination that needs a clinician's assessment. Then compare the proposed prescription. A company name and monthly figure cannot establish that two preparations are substitutes.

## The current public offers

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| CUROLOGY CUSTOM FORMULA RX | $29.95/month subscription equivalent; $34.95 one-time purchase listed for a 30-day supply. Confirm the shipment bill. |
| AGENCY NIGHT RENEW RX | $130 per listed 24 g / 60-day offer; $65/month equivalent. |
| AGENCY DARK SPOT RX | $110 per listed 18 g / 60-day offer; $55/month equivalent. |
| AGENCY EYE REVIVE RX | $110 per listed 12 g / 60-day offer; $55/month equivalent. |

These are public offers checked on 13 September 2026. Existing-account terms, initial promotions, shipping and proposed treatments can change the payable amount. Monthly equivalents are arithmetic for comparison, not a statement about billing frequency. Do not add the whole Agency range to a budget unless those products are actually part of the proposed care plan.

## Ask for the assigned formula

Curology's acne page describes a three-ingredient prescription; Agency's current Night Renew page gives a broader candidate menu that includes estriol and does not guarantee tretinoin. Neither menu is your label. Ask for the selected ingredients, strengths, base, mass and beyond-use date. If a formula changes, keep both the previous and current specifications so a later response can be discussed accurately.

## The clinical plan can change the comparison

If clindamycin is included, ask about antibiotic duration and how benzoyl peroxide is handled. If a hydroquinone or steroid-containing treatment is proposed, ask when it will be reviewed or changed. These are different treatment questions. A service comparison that reduces all of them to one best brand loses the detail needed to make a useful choice.

## What would make the decision reviewable

- The concern and the reason each proposed ingredient fits it.
- The next actual charge, shipment quantity and renewal interval.
- The clinician's contact route and what follow-up costs.
- A date for reviewing response, side effects and continued need.
- A clear explanation of whether an approved manufactured option could meet the same need.

Both custom preparations and approved products can be part of a clinical discussion. FDA's compounding distinction means ingredient evidence should not be presented as premarket review of a specific finished compound. We have not conducted patient comparisons of these services, so our partial scores assess public disclosure rather than medical quality or likely results.
